On a sunny and hot day, the winners of the Shimano Fest Short Track 2017 were defined. Raiza Goulão and Luiz Cocuzzi are the main champions of Olympic Cross Country. A high level race of the men’s elite, with a 1,1 km track, happened at the Jockey Club (São Paulo). Rubinho Valeriano got the 2nd place, followed by his teammate Guilherme Muller.

As the most experienced rider of the front row, Rubinho marked some decisive moments of the race. “At a certain moment of the race, I felt my heart beating slow, on the last 4 laps. None of the rivals we’re struggling and I was on the front row, on the leadership. At 38, I got to ride on my limits, because it’s hard to recover it later. I speeded up and gave all that I got, defining the rhythm. On the decisive lap, Cocuzzi sprinted and I tried to go along with him, but I went out of boost. My objective was to get to the podium and I’m leaving here happy.”, said Rubens.
